Get to Know OSB in One Minute

OSB is a type of engineered wood similar to particle board, which is commonly used in LOFT, decorative surface material. But what does an OSB consist of? What are the characteristics of OSB? Let me tell you!

The main material of OSB board is wood, commonly poplar or pine. The splitting method is to cut solid wood into pieces and compress it into sheet material. Because the pieces are randomly staggered and of different sizes, pulling forces from different directions make OSB boards require less adhesive than blockboards or other plywoods. OSB is light in weight and strong in strength, therefore it is suitable for every corner of the home and can create rich space design through different colors.

Not easy to deform and environmentally friendly are the core advantages of Oriented Strand Board. Because OSB is irregularly compressed by a large number of solid wood fragments and overlapped in different directions, the structure of OSB board is quite stable. Generally, the finished product can be divided into three structures. The upper and lower layers are arranged longitudinally, and the middle layer is transverse so that it has high stability and is not easy to deform. The solid wood strands combined with pressure naturally use less adhesive than the ordinary board, and the surface of OSB does not use tri-hydro ammonia adhesive, so it is one of the environment-friendly building materials. OSB with high strength, high resistance and excellent waterproof performance has also reached the standard of fireproof board.
